North Pole Here We Come...

Today we made some a video about all the things we know about 3D shapes.  We said things like their names, how many vertices they each have and how many faces they have.  We talked about how y makes an "i" sound if it is at the end of a 1 clap word like fly. It says "e" if it is at the end of a 2 clap word like funny.

We made videos about our own North Pole that we planned on paper.  The Grade 1's talked about how the elves would get what they need and want.  The Grade 2's talked about the goods and services they think they need in the north pole.    After we worked in groups to plan and then started building our group North pole.  Most of the groups have the roads done but we did not stick the buildings down yet.

Inuit Dogs

Today we learned about two new schools in the letter exchange.  Both of them were from Alberta.  One of the classes only had 11 students.  One of the classes has a real tree growing in their school.  Both of the letters were from Kindergarten classes.

We have been reading lots of books about Inuit people lately.  Today in the story they talked about how it can still snow in the artic in May!  We know there is lots of snow there and they don't usually have pet dogs, their dogs are usually working dogs that pull sleds

We played an odd and even game and if the number on the dice was even then the player that was Even Steven moved.  When an odd number was rolled the other partner who was Odd Todd moved.  We are pretty good at odd and even numbers.  Please ask us about them at home. 

Popcorn!

Today we learned that heat can change things like making things rise and changing its color.  We made popcorn and wrote what we felt, smelled, tasted, saw and heard.
We made a travel brochure about High River and wrote why people might want to vacation here.The grade 1's did a seasons video to tell us all the things that happen in each of the seasons.

Come to High River.

Today the Grade 1 went on a went on a hunt to find the ingredients for a witches brew.  The grade 1's needed to use the room numbers and a map of the school to find the ingredients.
Most of us finished our brochure today.  On the back we drew pictures of the seasons in High River and wrote about them .  On the front we wrote about why it would be good to come here for a vacation and some highlights here. 
We opened the rest of our letters from our letter form the letter exchange today . 

What colour is the bark?

Today we drew a picture of a house and then we painted fire on it with Popsicle sticks and then we added water just like the fire fighter would .

We went outside to look at the bark on the trees.  We saw some yellow on the bark and we noticed that the bottom was darker than the top.  When we came inside we crumpled a piece of wax paper with black and white and pushed it onto a brown piece of paper.  It looked cool.

Surrey, British Columbia

Today we got our first letter in our letter exchange.  It came from a place called Surrey that is close to a big city called Vancouver.  Surrey is a city that is bigger than High River!
We read a book about the 3 little pigs when we looked at the pictures we thought it was going to be different that the story but it wasn't.

Fire Safe!

Today the firefighters came to visit to teach us about fire safety.  They told us we need to call 911 if we need a police, ambulance or firefighters. The firefighters put on all their stuff.  They need to wear a jacket and pants that are made of material like oven mitts.  They have their boots so they can get ready really fast.  They also wear an air tank so they can breath nice clean air not smoky air. We got to go inside the fire trucks and we saw that their were air tanks hooked up to the front seats so they can get to the fire quickly.  They told us that our homework is to talk to our parents about our two ways out of our house and what our meeting spot is in case of a fire.  They also told us we need to know our address and our phone number in case of an emergency. 


Today the Grade 2's did a math activity about how much money if would be to get our names on our Joe Clark shirt.  If the names has 4 or less letters they would be $2 if they had 5 or 6 letter it would be $3 and if they had 7 oir more letter is would be $5. 

How do we feel?

We did all 5 rotation of Daily 5.  One was listening to reading when we did Raz Kids.  In work on writing we wrote what we are thankful for and in word work we made words from the letters in Thanksgiving
We talked about emotions that we feel with Mrs. Kellogs and we made a picture of ourselves when we feel good.  She told us this is what we look like in the green zone
We read a book called "The Bad Mood and the Stick".  We talked about how we get to choose to be in a bad mood or not.  In the story a man made a lady wash his pants but she choose not to get mad.  We talked about how it is OK to be mad but it is not OK to be mean or then you give your bad mood to someone else.

Whole body Listening.

Today we did some weaving with paper.  To weave we just go over and under but it was very hard for some of us. 
We made a video of what  our body looks like when we are doing whole body listening.  Some of the things we do when we are whole body listening are being quiet, and sitting on our bums with our hands in our basket and not touching others.  We read a book called the Lemonade hurricane that talked about the importance of being calm and how when we are not calm how that affects others. 
We got a new seating plan so we can sit beside new friends.  We learned  the difference between bullying and being unkind.  Please ask us the difference tonight.

Terry Fox

Today we watched some videos about Terry Fox.  Terry Fox had a prosthetic leg. We learned he started running at one ocean and he was trying to run across Canada to try to get back to his home in Vancouver.  Every day he ran 42 km or a marathon.  We know he only made it part way before he got cancer again.   He made lots of money that he gave to help do research so other kids don't get cancer like he did. 
Ms. Mahan showed us a video about a man she went to school with that has no arms and legs but he can still drive a tractor.

We have a note in our agenda for you to ask us about Terry Fox and to help us fill out the sticker that we will bring back to school to wear on the Terry Fox run.

Smile!

Today we made an alphabet chart in a group.  We are going to brain storm different places in High River that start with each letter of the alphabet tomorrow. We wrote in our agenda that we are doing the Terry Fox run on Friday.
We read a book that taught us that when we are grumpy all the time everything seems worse than it really is. We need to smile and things seem better.  The book told us that instead of saying "I have to..." we can say "I get to ..." and look for the good things! 

The Smooch

Today we learned more about eyes and we had a special guest called Mrs. Argue come talk to us.  She cant see out of one eye and very little out of the other eye. She lives here in High River.  She can still hear and she uses that sense even more now that she cant see very well.  She had a special stick that she moves in front of her to make sure she doesn't bump into things.  She had special glasses that help her see so she can go for walks.
 She even wrote her own booked called The Smooch and she read it to us.  The main character was frog was named Tag.  He kissed a fairy and she turned into a frog.  The writing in the book was white on black pages and we leaned that most people have troubles seeing can see better with white writing on black paper.  She let us use her machine that made the things look much bigger and even changed the colour of things.  We had to look at the screen and not at the paper to write our name and colour.  It as hard.

We read a book called Happy Dreamer and then we talked and wrote about about our dreams and what makes us happy.

We read a book called I cant believe you just said that taught us about our inside voice and our outside  voice.  We need to make sure that the things we say with our outside voice  go through the social filter so they are not rude and hurtful to others

Changing Eyes

Today we went outside to look for things we see in the fall.  Some of the things we saw were trees with yellow leaves  and grass that is dying.
In music we learned about a world far far away from us. In the song they went to catch seals and they cut open seals and use the fat. 
We learned about our eyes in Science.  We watched each others eyes when the lights in the room got darker and brighter.  It was cool.  We saw that when the room is bright our pupil (black part) gets smaller so not too much light goes in.  When it is darker they get bigger to let more light in.  It was fun to watch our partners pupils change. 

What I am ...

Today we had library for the first time We got to take out 2 books and we get to keep them until next Monday.
We had PE today. We played Ghostbuster tag and the ghosts had to try to tag people with soccer balls.  If the you got tagged  you had to put the ball on your head until someone someone else put their ball through your legs.  Everyone had a ball except the ghosts .  We also played another game where we built a hut out of hula hoops and tried to knock other peoples huts down with ball.  Their were builders and thrower.
We watched a song about "What I am" and then we made a picture of ourselves with a sentence about what we are on it.

Golden Garbage!

Today we had an assembly today about back to school and setting some of the rules for the year.  We learned that we can get a golden garbage can full of treats if we keep our classroom and boot shelf clean.
We did a drawing of oursleves and used mirrors to look at all the parts of our face.   We did read to self for the first time today.  We wrote a list about what we need to when we are reading to self, like keep our hands to ourselves and find a good spot away from others.
We had centers for the first time at the end if the day.  It was lots of fun.

What is in that Bag?

Lots of people brought their bags today so we got to learn new things about our classmates

We talked about the letter C and then we went for a walk around the school to look for things that start with c.

We had our first morning meeting today and we shook hands and learned other peoples names.   We also learned about a new thing we will have each morning called morning bins.  

We read a book about a girl who changed colors.    The only way she changed back was to be herself and eat Lima beans.  We talked about being ourselves every day.  

Is There a Dinosaur in our School?

Today we read a story called: We Don't Eat Our Classmates and then we found our own toy dinosaur on the playground.  It was in a dino egg. We looked around the school for signs that dinosaurs might be in our school
We made some things from playdough - like buildings, people in our family and places we like to visit.
We think it was a great first day!!

4 Seasons

Today we wrote about the seasons and picked which season is our favourite.  We know that when the world tips towards the sun it is hotter (summer) and when we tip away from the sun it is colder or winter.  We know the 4 seasons are fall, spring, winter and summer.  We also wrote what the plants animals and people do in each of those seasons.  We also made tree in art.  Part of the tree was in each of the seasons.  It looked really cool.
We read a book about a butterflies life.  They start as eggs. then they get fatter by eating leaves.  Then they make a Chrysalis and when they hatch they are butterflies.When the butterflies hatch they mate and then they choose a good place to lay their eggs and then the life cycle starts all over again.  The eggs hatch in a few days. 
We wrote a little bit about the last part of Woolbur today.  Part of what we did was describing a picture to our friends.  We talked about things like color, textures.  Then we wrote our predictions about what is going to happen at the end of the story.

Caterpillars in the "J"

Today we made a picture of grass because we are learning about living things in Science.  We made the grass by going outside and rubbing different textures.  If the object was bumpy it made a cool pattern.
We are almost done our lost pet story.  We are excited to finish them and make a cover tomorrow.
In math we made a video about an item for a queen of the Giants Display and the Queen of the queen of the Gnomes displays.  We had fun selecting the items with the iPads.
We watched a video about how a caterpillar gets out of its old skin and inside is a chrysalis.  We have one caterpillar who is in his J and we think will shed his skin soon. 
In music we learned a new song about loosing our hat and a dance to go with it.  Ask us to show you when we come home tonight. 

Measuring Space

In Science we made a carriage for Cinderella.   Some people used wheels and some people used air to blow it across the ground.  We read a book about Cinderella, in one book Cinderella was a boy. 
We showed Ms. Mahan all we know about weight by telling her 3 things we are heavier than and 3 things we are lighter than.We also practiced measuring the space inside boxes today.  We got to pick the material that was best to measure the inside of each box like blocks, erasers or Lego.
We had our last day of mission impossible today.  There was a new thing we could play with, ping pong rackets.

How much will it hold?

Today we were measuring to see how much different containers could hold.  We used different container like orange juices bottles, grape juice jugs, baby food jars, buckets and vinegar bottles.  We compared the containers based on how much they would hold.  In math we ordered some pieces of string from longest to smallest to practice measuring lengths

Long Ago Artifacts

Today we built a way for Rapunzel to get down from he tower.  Some of us built parachutes, some built zip lines and some built slides.
We looked at some old artifacts today like a butter making block and a buckets that they would use to haul water.  We wrote about how our life would be the same or different if we lived long ago.  Like if we lived long ago we would travel in a wagon now we travel in a car.  Long ago the sewed or knit their own quilts and we just buy them at a store.
We had our last dance practice today and tomorrow is the family dance.

Elephant and Piggie

Today We wrote the first page of our lost pet story today.  Today we just introduced our characters.  We did great writing.  Lots of groups presented their Elephant and Piggie books to our class.  When we read the book to our class one of us was Elephant and one of us was Piggie.  We  practiced making our voice go up at the question marks and reading big words louder when we were reading
We practiced drawing different bugs like a dragonfly, ladybug, fly and butterfly.  Because our next unit in Science is about needs of plants and animals
We had dance and now we only 1 more practice with Miss Nicky because the dance is on Thursday.  One of our moves is a jump and cross then jump again.  It looks really cool when we do it together
In music we learned how to count to 10 in spanish in a song ask us to sing it for you tonight.  We also did a note test and we had to decide which note Mr. Hibber sang.

Babies All ...

Today we added some more pictures for our book that we are writing about a lost pet.  Today we drew pictures about 3 places we looked for our pet and where we finally found him. 
We practiced our Umbrella dance with Ms. Nicky in the gym.  If we come to the family dance next week we need to bring an umbrella
We talked about take away today.  When you take away you need to put the big number first.
We played a game with cards where we needed to each turn over two cards and whoever had the biggest number gets all 4 cards.  Ask us to teach it to you tonight.
Two people told us about theirs baby stories.  We are noticing that all of us liked to sleep eat and poop when we were babies! 
We are bringing a field trip form home tonight for our mom and dad to sign. 

We are Engineers!

We had a very exciting day. We had a special visitor today and she  was an engineer.  An engineer solves problems for their job.  We know when we are building we are engineers.  She told us that most of the time her ideas don't work the first time so she has to keep trying.   She gave us a challenge to build a tower with only news paper and tape.  It was very fun! 
In the afternoon we went for a walk around the community to leave bucket filling note on our neighbors doors.  One of them said "I want to share a smile with you, another said you are loved and another said, I like your house.  We even had gym outside today because it was so nice outside,.
We practiced reading some Elephant and Piggie Books with a partner and we talked more about words that have the magic e in them today.  We know when there is a magic e at the end of the word it makes the a,e,i,o orr u say its own name.
We are bringing home some questions to ask our moms and dads about when we were little. 

On the Day We Were Born

Today in gym we played a game where we had to try to get all the treasure from the other teams basket into ours but the other team was also trying to get all of the treasure out of our basket into theirs.  If we got tagged on the other teams side we had to be frozen until one of our team mates saved us.  In Music we learned a new song about going in and out of the window.  Ask us to sing it for you tonight.
We read a story called "On the day You Were born"  Then we told Ms. Mahan some questions we have about the day we were born. She typed up so we can take them home and ask our parents later this week.
We started writing a letter to baby bear from Goldilocks.  Tomorrow we will write a letter to him apologizing for all the things we broke.

New Chair for Little Bear.

In Science we pretended to be Goldilocks and built a chair for the littlest bear because Goldilocks broke her chair in the story.  Some of us used carboard, some of use Plasticine and some of us used Lego.  We learned that blocks worked the best because they are easy to connect in different ways.  Popsicle sticks  and cardboard did not work very well because they were hard to make stand up. 
We ready the story Woolber and who liked to be different.  We drew a picture to match the main idea of the story and wrote a sentence to match. 
Today we had some new centers in gym including Pickle Ball, shooting at baskets, the climbing wall, skipping and frisbees.  They were lots of fun. 

We Can Make a Difference

Today we talked about Earth Day we learned that we need to take care of the planet because lots of people are doing mean things to it like throwing garbage on the ground.  One thing we can do it to not throw our garbage in the garbage can.  We wrote about all the things we can do to protect the earth and it is hanging in the hall with  picture of us holding the earth.  Some of the ideas we wrote about were riding our bike and not always driving  because cars make air pollution.

Our Beautiful Earth

Today we talked bout the Earth.  We made a picture of our world with green and blue marker on a coffee filter and then we sprayed it with water water to make the colour's go together.  Ms. Mahan also took our picture so it will look like we are holding the earth in our hands.  We are doing this because Earth day is in 4 days. 
We read a book about the 3 bears and Goldilocks but someone was rewinding and fast forwarding the story in the book so it was all in the wrong order. So we tried to put all the things that happened in the story in the right order.
We read another book  called LA La La.  The only word in the story was La so we used the Ipads and added the words that we thought should have been on the pages. 

All about Sheep

Today we did lots of learning related to the book "Woolbur."  We had a partner A and partner B. One partner looked at a picture on the Smartboard and then described it to the other partner.  Partner B asked them more questions about it like what is the texture, the shapes, and the colours. We were talked about what we already know about sheep.  We made some predictions about what will happen next in the book with pictures and sentences.
We also read a book about Junk-Pile Jennifer who collected lots of junk but at the end she was able to fix a spaceship will all her junk!  We think we should all start saving junk just like her!   We played badminton in PE.  We are getting very good at hitting it back and forth between ourselves and out friends.  We are also getting to be very good at sportsmanship and being leaders in gym.

We Love Cosmic Kids

Today we started playing badminton in PE. We got a racket and a birdie and practiced hitting the birdie to our partner.  The first hit is called a serve.  If it falls on the ground it is a new serve
We did a cosmic kids brainbreak about spider man today.  We love cosmic kids
In math we practiced making different equations that equal the same number in different ways.  We wrote things like 1+5=6 and 2+4=6 and 3+3=6.  We also made our equations with blocks.

It's a troll!

We loved PE today because we all tried very hard and we got to use the bouncy balls instead of the basketballs.  In Music we played "Doggy Doggy, whose got our bone" and we loved it!  Ask us to show you how to play when we get home

We loved reading some more "Three Billy Goat Gruff "stories and then creating our own trolls.  We also wrote about the troll.    We liked planning our city with our groups and are excited to start building them tomorrow.

Readers Theatre

We liked learning a new song in music - in the song we did actions that match the words.  Ask us to sing it for you when we get home. In gym we loved doing basketball because we got to try to dribble and run and pass to a partner.
Some of us loved presenting our readers theater to the class.  Ms. Mahan made a movie of it.    They were  awesome at helping each other if one partner for got their words at at saying their words at the right time.  They were great at making it fun to listen to when they talked.  Tomorrow another group will show their readers theatre to the class.

The Little Red Hen

Some of us liked reading a new little red hen story today because this little red hen story had real animals in the pictures.  We also liked writing our own little red hen book that we are excited to share them when they are done.
We liked playing basketball in gym because it is a new game and lots of us got a chance to score a basket.  We liked writing about what plants, people and animals do in winter so we can hang it up on the wall.  We liked doing some adding today to color a leprechaun the right colors.  Some of us are really good at adding numbers together.

What Happened to all the Animals?

We liked playing a new game in music called "don't peak" and we had to guess what instrument people in our class were playing
We liked playing soccer with 4 balls in PE.  We were all getting hot because we running so much!
We liked finishing our animals, plants and people in winter art.  We made 3 animals with oil pastel, 2 plants and a person.  Then we painted over it with paint.  We liked it because we got to choose whatever colors we wanted to use.

Animals in Winter

The favorite part of the day for some of us was playing a new game in gym called bench soccer.We also got to play everybody is it tag. It is fun because we all get to be it instead of having to take turns
Some of us liked learning about hibernation which is where animals bodies slow down until they sleep when it is cold and then don't start moving again until it gets warm and they wake up in the spring

What if Everybody Did That?

Today we made a video of ourselves showing off how we can skip count by 5's ands 10's.  We could go as high as we wanted when we were counting.  We liked doing the mathletics today because when we are done our jobs we got to go on live m athletics and practice our adding against other students.
We liked library because we got to have Maker spaces where we got to build things after we took out our books.
We loved music because we sang the good old hockey game song and the song coming around the mountain.  It is funny because at the end of the song they have to sleep with grandma.
We loved gym because we got to skip.  We needed to see how many times we could jump in a row.
We liked reading the book "What if everyone did that" because we talked about what the world be like if we were not responsible.

We can count by 5.

In math we we did some more counting by 5. Ask us to show you how we can do it when we get home. We made some count by 5 art by coloring around our hand with 3 colors of chalk pastel. 
We tried to make a goat or a troll with plasticine because we read the story 3 billy goats gruff.

We read a book about what people need and what that looks like around the world.  We know we need food, shelter.water, health, love and to play. We did daily 5 today and had library and had music.

Learning Commons Day!

Today we had class in the learning Commons because we were getting new lights in our classroom.  The new lights have a dimmer switch so we can choose how bight we want the lights to be. 
We talked more about things that we need and things that we want.  Some of the things we needs are food, water and air.
Daily 5 was fun because we got to use the whole learning commons.  We made our word card words with magnets on the green chalk board and took a selfie with our words.  In work on writing we are now able to write 3 or more sentences. 
We practiced skip counting by 5 today and we know when we skip count by 5 the number either ends with a 0 or a 5. 

We Saved Zero the Hero!

Today was 100 day we did some centers to try to save zero the hero.  He was kidnapped by agent 99 and we needed to save the day. 
One center was make a "hot on the trail" mix with 100 snacks.  We found some finger prints on cups and we tried to get the finger prints off the cup with tape and put them on a black paper.  We built a structure with 100 cups and we needed to work as a team.  We needed to bowl and see if we could knock 100 pins down.
We had lots of confidential envelopes delivered throughout the day.  each envelope had one word in it and the words made the sentence that said "You will find Zero the Hero where you like to play" .  We went to the gym and found envelopes with a note that zero the hero was safe but we just missed him as he had to go to another hundreds day celebration.  We worked hard and had lots of fun 

How are Rainbows Made?

Today we finished our magic school bus video about rainbows. We know that when the white light goes into the prism the light separates into the different colours of light.  We wrote a sentence about how to make a rainbow. 
We made a Valentines Day card for our family member about all the things we love about being apart of our family.  We did Daily 5 and some of us are getting getting very good at writing more than one sentence when we are at work on writing.  We went to the library and we got to look at the books and some of us even bought a book.  It is like our library is a book store!
We practiced skip counting by 10.  We know that when we skip count by ten all the numbers end with 0.  Tomorrow is Valentines Day and we are excited to try friendship fruit salad and hand out our valentines.

We love Olympics

We did daily 5 today.  In wet dry try we were focusing on letters like p, g and y that go into the basement.
We watched a magic school bus video about how to make a rainbow.  We know that the color we see when we look at things is the color that is bouncing back to our eyes.  They talked about the spectrum of light that makes a rainbow. 
We made a video about the heart art that we made.  In the video we talked about how to make light and dark colors, about transparent and opaque colors and sorted colors by light, medium and dark. 
We talked lots about the Olympics today.  We learned that they only come once every 4 years and people from all over the world that speak different language go there.  We watched a bit of ski racing today and we were all cheering for Canada.

We are ready!

Miss Marnie came to our class so we had our fast daily 5 rotations with her.  Miss Marnie helps us with making our hands strong. 
We practiced for our student led conference so are all ready to  show off to our parents.  We even had a friend be our practice parent so we could practice.
We had 2 indoor recesses because it was so cold outside today. 

Good Sentences

We got our desks ready to show our parents at student-led conferences tomorrow and on Thursday.
We did some more work on numbers to 20 and talked about how all the teen number have 1-10 and then some extra ones.
We talked more about making light and dark co lours and are excited to show our parents how we can mix colours at student led conferences.
We practiced writing good sentences again today. We know they need capitals, periods, finger spaces, detail, and our letters need to be sitting on the line and the right size.

Snowmen at Night

In art we made a snowman at night. We turned off the light and noticed that everything went black so all the shapes in our picture are black.  We made a picture that matched Ms. Mahans with oil pastel. the picture even has a shadow.  We we made an umbrella with 6 colors and 3 or the colours we made by mixing. 
We practiced counting 20 twenty and showing teen number in different ways. One of the ways was to make the number in a ten frame and to colour that many stars.  Some of us did a flight check to show off are reading.

5 Colour Picture

Today we tried making this picture using only 5 colours, red, blue, yellow, white and black.  We had to mix colours to make some of the colours like red and yellow to make orange and black and white to make grey.  We mixed our last 2 colours of jello and learned that blue and yellow make green. 
We practiced making w's on our little whiteboards today.  We know we need started on the dotted line so we make sure it is lowercase not uppercase. 
We sang a song about mice in music.   The mice ran because the cat woke up.  Ask us to sing it for you when we get home.  In gym we played the game waspital because our two birthday boys for January got to pick the game. 

Jello Mixing

Today we mixed colour with Jello we mixed red and yellow to make orange and we mixed blue and red to make purple.  After we mixed we got to eat the Jello.  

We read a book about  adding details to the middle of our stories.  We used the pictures in the book to make the stories better because all their stories said was "Once upon a time and then the end".  We  writing our own stories about a snowman and today we started by drawing the pictures for our story.  

Snow

In math we did some rotations.  We took some pictures of shapes around the school, counted how many triangles we could find in a picture and did some Mathletics.
We sang a song about snowmen and snowflakes in music, ask us to sing it for you when we get home.  We moved our desks so we are in groups of three so we can sit with some new friends.

Lighter and Darker

Today we painted 3 papers.  We painted one light blue, one medium blue and one dark blue. We mixed black and blue to make dark blue  and we mixed white and blue to make light blue
We made a c page for our alphabet book and practiced printing cs in our letter book and with wet dry try. 
We practiced our making our numbers in math with Wet, Dry, Try. and we did some centers to practice our numbers to 20. 

Wet, Dry, Try

Today we made some art by drawing a shape lots of time and making sure it overlapped. After we drew them and then we coloured each section with different shade of a colour. We used a light, medium and dark pencil crayon or crayon of the same colour.
We talked a lot about the lower case "a" today we know we make it by making a magic C then going straight up and straight down.  We used an app called "wet dry try" to practice making our letters.  Ask us to show you tonight. 
We wrote lots of words that start with the letter a like alligator, apple, airplane and ant.  Then we made our own "a" page for a alphabet book.
