Acadians

DSC_8934 - Georges Island Today the Grade 2's were practicing how to figure out an equation when we don't know the number in the middle.  We used cups to hide the middle number and then we had to fugure out what was the middle number in the equation.  We tried to solve equations on other peoples boards.  The grade 1's practiced making teen numbers with a 10 frames and with base 10 blocks.
We had an assembly and some people came and gave the school a cheque for $500.  We started watching a video at lunch about the Arctic.  We are watching it because it teaches us more about the animals in Iqaluit.
Today we talked about people who used to live in Meteghan called Acadians.  They choose to live there because there were trees and fish.  They got kicked out of their houses by the British.  They could not leave by an airplane because planes were not invented back then.  They went by boats to the United States and Europe.
