Heritage Park

Heritage Park, Calgary
Today we went on  field trip to Heritage Park. We had lots of fun!
We went on a scavenger hunt for lots of things that showed us what life was like in the past.  We learned that in the past they used to make cool stuff out of steel by putting it in coal and fire to make it hot and then they used a hammer.  They even made metal roses at the blacksmith shop!
We learned that they did not have cars so they had to walk or they used horses to pull wagon.  The horses that pulled the stuff were bigger than normal horses.
Some of the houses in the past were small but some of the others were bigger.  There were dolls and mannequins in some of the rooms but they looked every old.  The kitchen was very small and it had a special stove that you had to light a fire in to make it hot.  We also saw some other stoves that used natural gas or coal.   They used to have to pull a lever to make the toilet flush and the bathrooms were very small.
The hospital only had two rooms and was much smaller than our hospital.  Their gas pumps were also different.  They were different shape and you would have to pull a special thing to make the gas come out.  You couldn't pay at the pump like we do now.  The telephones are not the same as ours. They had chords they put into a different parts so they could connect to the right person.
